Polytopic species. The most important habitats are meadows, particularly nutrient-poor grassland and wet meadows in wide altitudinal gradient (< 2300 m asl.). It is frequent also in ruderal and grassy vegetation and along the roads in fields, together with Pseudochorthippus parallelus.
Probably the most frequent and abundant bush-cricket species. Macropterous individuals can be frequently found, mainly in mountains and higher altitudes.
