It inhabits damp or wet grasslands, banks of water courses, ditches, ponds and the edges of mires. Frequently also in the wet gardens, orchards and extensively used fields, fertilized with natural animal dung. Relatively regular distribution up to 1000 m asl.
The most frequent and abundant is in lowlands and hilly areas up to 700 m asl., where can cause damage on vegetables in the gardens.
