In Slovakia, the preferred habitats of the species are dry grasslands on sand substrates, close to adjacent patches of wet meadows and wetlands or even fallow arable land. It has been recorded only from sites below 200 m asl.

One of the rarest bush-cricket species in Slovakia, with isolated and fragmented distribution, recently only in lowlands of SE Slovakia. However, relatively abundant populations can be found in few well-preserved sandy areas of SE Slovakia, sometimes together with T. caudata.
