This grasshopper was recorded from various habitats but prefers mesophilous grassland with dense vegetation up to 1300 m asl. Therefore, it is mostly recorded from extensively cultivated and not too dry grassland, along roadsides and on areas of bare ground, but also from dry to semi-dry grassland with patches of dense vegetation and/or more humid soil.

One of our most frequent and most abundant grasshopper species, with regular distribution in Slovakia, in „plague years“ locally with huge quantities.
